actually they do, they have the perspective of growing up and becoming an adult. adults have the perspective of getting old and retiring.

Yes, but before growing up... it takes quite some time before children gain perspective, they think the world revolves around themselves and they cannot see the others point of view. (There are several psychological tests to verify this).

Because it is very interesting to see when exactly the child (i.e. the brain) matures to the extent of having a sense of "other people's mind" (or theory of mind). This is something that lacks for example in autism, so these tests also work for autists.
